Cryer wins Trials for 2005. |
| Sporting a distinct sun tan from trips away with England’s elite, it was a solid 69 gross for 37 pionts that saw Matt Cryer take the 2005 Men’s Trials. There were other familiar faces in the top 10 of an event which is where many players have first come to the attention of the County Captain and the 2nds Captain, for selection to the teams which have been successful in the past few seasons, a winning formula that President Jim Dean remarked on in his presentation speech the County would very much like to continue. |

The 2nds struggle but there is another win for the 1sts |
| For the second friendly of 2005, new Captain of the Warwickshire 2nds Nick Clifford was not able to field a strong team against Leicestershire and the team lost 10-5. It was valuable experience for players who are on the fringes of selection but if winning the Midland League title is a target (as in 2003), those who play for this team are going to have to find their very best golf. |

A 10 winning year wait for Broadie. |

|
England’s Paul Broadhurst ended a ten year wait to capture his fifth European title at the Estoril Open de Portugal Caixa de Depositos after an unbelievable climax to the final round at Oitavos Golfe, Quinta da Marinha, Portugal. The 39 year old won by one stroke from Paul Lawrie, after the Scotsman and his playing partner, England’s Barry Lane, saw their respective bids for the title collapse at Oitavos’s notoriously difficult closing holes |
