At the County AGM, held on Wednesday 17th November at Copt Heath Golf Club, the Committee members read out the reports in relation to their responsibilities. If you were unable to be there, you can now read what activities and successes happened during the 2009/2010 year in Club and County golf for Warwickshire.

The day dawned bright and the conditions were perfect for the first Winter Alliance competition in the 2010/2011 series, held at Nuneaton Golf Club on Monday 1st November.

South Staffs Golf Club hosted the 2010 Charles Heeley Challenge Bowl on Wednesday 6th October. The competition is open to all Ladies in the Counties of Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire and this year some 55 Clubs participated with 94 Ladies competing.

Warwickshire won by 6 clear points over Staffordshire (who beat us by one point last year!!!) The Mary Turner Bowl is a competition played annually between Staffordshire, Hereford & Worcestershire and Warwickshire and was played at Whittington Heath Golf Course today, 14th October.

Coventry Hearsall was the venue for the 2010 Joyce Nichol Trophies competition, held today - 27th September. Dottie Beanland, County Captain in her speech prior to the presentation, reminded the audience who Joyce Nichols was. Whilst a member at Leamington & County GC, Joyce held office as Hon. Secretary of the County Ladies from 1955 to 1970. In recognition of her long and dedicated service the County donated The Joyce Nichol Silver and Bronze Division Trophies to be played for by members of Warwickshire ladies. A most unusual occurance is that both winners of the annual competition have their signatures engraved on the trophies and have done since 1972, the first year of the Competition.

It can only be the Warwickshire Inter-Club League Final when 14 nervous lady amateur golfers have the opportunity of teeing up for an important match in the beautiful , yet challenging setting of the MENZIES WELCOMBE HOTEL SPA and GOLF CLUB at Stratford Upon Avon.
