Did we win through?
County Week Stage 1 2006 - Day 3 - 7th June - Maxstoke GC 9-0 would have been perfect. 8-1 was very good. 7-2 was the absolute minimum. This was the maths that County Captain Anne Parry had with her when she made her team talk before the final day of this year's stage one of qualifying for the ELGA Champion County Championship. It would all be irrelevant if Staffordshire bt Worcs & Hereford but that match followed our match so your team just had to win as many matches as they could and then sit and wait
Warwickshire are in trouble
County Week - Stage 1 - Day 2 - With a 3-6 loss against Staffordshire, our team must produce a big performance tomorrow and hope that Worcestershire continue their form of today, if Warwickshire are to go through to the semi-finals. The day started with a win at No 1 in the foursomes
Max Power (in the singles) at Maxstoke
County Week 2006 - Stage 1 - Monday 5th June - Maxstoke Park. Warwickshire beat Worcestershire & Hereford Ladies 6-3 to give new County Captain Anne Parry a winning start in the quest for moving on the County Week semi-finals once again. There are two more matches to come over the next two days but this was the perfect first match - although things were not in our favour at lunch. This report also includes news on our opposition Staffordshire, for tomorrow morning.
Top Girls on a Tough Course
Lauren Clark-Hughes and Elizabeth Mallett experienced probably the toughest set-up golf course they have ever played in their short careers, at Market Drayton in the Midland Schools Championships for 2006. The course is not long. It is extraordinarily beautiful and in superb condition however the club is celebrating its Centenary next week so with a week of competitions to cater for, pins were tucked away to leave the main parts of the greens free for the coming days
It's Felicity v Emma in English championship quarter final
Defending champion Felicity Johnson will take on the two-time winner Emma Duggleby in the quarter finals of the English Ladies' Close Amateur Championship at West Lancashire Golf Club. Emma, (Malton & Norton) who won this title in 2000 and 2003, eased comfortably through her first two matches. In the first round she beat international Jodi Ewart (Catterick) 4/3 before going on to knock out the top seed, Kerry Smith (Waterlooville), by the same margin.
Fliss ends four year wait for second County Championships
It has been a long wait but Fliss Johnson took her second County Championships by beating six time champion Claire Dowling on the 19th, today at Ladbrook Park. The golf was good but there were some nerves and for Claire, three lots of 36 holes in a row demands all her stamina, so the last few holes were tense as neither player could capitalise on any errors by their opponent.
