- GROWTH OF GOLF SWINGS INTO ACTION
Plans for the development of golf in England, aimed at increasing the number of individuals playing golf by 5% over the next four years, were unveiled today in London. Under the umbrella of The England Golf Partnership; the English Golf Union (EGU), English Ladies’ Golf Association (ELGA), The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA), together with the support of The Golf Foundation and Sport England, have come together to produce a ‘Whole Sport Plan’ for golf.
- The 25th Peter McEvoy Trophy
Copt Heath GC, 13th and 14th April 2005. The McEvoy is the first major championships for English Juniors of each season. It also has a pedigree of winner that reflects well on any winner with the names of Lee Westwood, Justin Rose and Steve Webster all being inscribed on the huge silver salver which goes to the top player each year. In 2005, Warwickshire had one of its best representations with three Juniors taking part – Rob Browning, Dale Marson and Boys Captain Andy Sullivan.
- The Warwickshire Amateur Championship 2005 – Preview and ENTRY FORMS
The 2005 Amateur will be held at Robin Hood Golf Club on Thursday 26th May. The Defending Champion is Matt Cryer (Coventry) and this is the premier Warwickshire Championship so the field will represent the best player in our County. - The 2005 Bainbridge Shield
This is the draw for the 2005 Bainbridge Shield. The Holders are Coventry Finham GC. If you are a team Captain, make sure that you play your matches by the ‘Play by Dates’. If you have any problems fixing a match, inform the County Secretary as soon as they occur. To view the draw CLICK HERE
- Cryer wins Trials for 2005.
Sporting a distinct sun tan from trips away with England’s elite, it was a solid 69 gross for 37 pionts that saw Matt Cryer take the 2005 Men’s Trials. There were other familiar faces in the top 10 of an event which is where many players have first come to the attention of the County Captain and the 2nds Captain, for selection to the teams which have been successful in the past few seasons, a winning formula that President Jim Dean remarked on in his presentation speech the County would very much like to continue.
- Boys Trials 2005 – Scores
This feature includes both Nett and Gross scores for all the 50 players in the 2005 Boys Trials at Ingon Manor GC. Thre of those who played are taking aprt in the McEvoy Trophy on 13th and 14th April at Copt Heath GC and your support would be very welcome. Those players are Rob Browning, Dale Marson and Andy Sullivan, Warwickshire Boys Captain.
