- Recognise the name?
If you read this feature you will be able to enlarge this photo of the winners names engraved on the McEvoy Trophy. J D Rose was leading the Masters last weekend. M Pilkington has as European Tour pedigree and eleven years ago our own Steve Webster was winning at Copt Heath, the start of a successful amateur career before going on to almost continuous high placings on the European Tour Order of Merit. A Warwickshire name will not be on the trophy this year.
- The McEvoy and the 4 Counties Team
The week after Easter is always the date of the McEvoy trophy, 72 holes played over Copt Heath and open only to the best Boys in the Country. This year, the cut off point for handicaps was the lowest it has ever been and only three of our Juniors had made into the field, with Jak Hamblett, Boys Captain having to withdraw from both this competition and the 4 Counties, through injury late last week.
- The Draw for the Bainbridge Shield 2004
The draw has been made for the Bainbridge Shield for 2004, the premier inter-club knockout in the County and one which has produced much drama in its long history. Its probably the largest trophy that the Warwickshire Union Club play for and one which would grace any clubhouse, and as such is very high on the priorities of the best players in the County.
- Start sheets for the Boys Trials and Schools
This feature contains the start sheets for the Boys Trials on Thursday 15th April at Stoneleigh Deer Park and the Warwickshire Schools 2004 to be held at Henley Golf and Country Club. For possible late entry to the Schools please see below and the start sheet for the schools is up-to-date with all entrants as of 8th April 2004.
- Warwickshire 1sts beat Leics (again)
Andy Kearns and Team Warwickshire recorded another win (we won away in 2003) against Leicestershire in a warm up for the 2004 season, at Robin Hood GC on Sunday 28th March, watched by new Union President Jim Dean. It was match all square after the morning foursomes so we needed a strong singles performance and the team provided one.
- Entry for the 2004 Amateur
The premier Warwickshire Mens Championship is just over two months away and individual entry is now available for golfers with a handicap of 4 or less. The holder is Rob Steele of Kenilworth. You can use the downloads in this feature or you can enter on-line from this web site. Please click MORE for full details of this Championship
- 1sts vs Northants at Wellingborough
The Warwickshire 1st team opened up the season with an 8-man match against a strong Northamptonshire side at Wellingborough GC on Sunday 21st March. Despite sometimes gale force icy winds, sporadic rain and the recently hollow-tined greens, this “friendly” was a fiercely competitive and very closely fought match.
